Speed and Index in Drill for Eggs

Two systems decide whether your steals stick and whether your collection pays out: Speed and the Index. Speed is what lets you outrun zone guardians after you grab an egg. The Index tracks first-time pet unlocks and pays a one-time reward when a new species lands. Together with offline pet Cash, they turn raw Power into a stable farm.

Use this guide beside How to Steal Eggs, Players, and Getting Started. For post-Rebirth maps, continue to Worlds and Mutations.

Speed pads near your base

Green Speed buttons sit near your home base. Step on them to raise the Speed stat that decides chase outcomes. Before every serious steal:

  1. Return to base and hit the green pads until you feel a clear buffer for the zone you plan to enter.
  2. Do not spend the entire Cash pile on a flashy drill if Speed is empty — a strong dig with a failed escape yields nothing.
  3. Re-check Speed after Rebirth and after teleporting into a new World. Prestige resets Power, not your need to outrun guardians.
  4. On mobile or console, confirm the pad interaction still registers before you leave base (controls).

Speed is not optional flavor. It is the difference between placing an egg for gestation and watching a guardian delete the run.

Escape habits that save eggs

  • Plan the exit path before you interact with the egg (E to take it).
  • Jump gaps with Space only when the route needs it — panic jumps into corners lose races.
  • If you fail twice in a row, stop and buy more Speed instead of tilting into a third loss.
  • After a successful return, place the egg immediately so gestation starts; standing around with the egg still “held” invites mistakes.

Full chase routing lives on Steal Eggs. This page exists so Speed prep is never treated as an afterthought.

How the Index pays you

The Index is your collection log. The first time you unlock a pet species — including Mutation variants in later Worlds — a reward becomes claimable. A red exclamation on the Index button usually means unclaimed value.

Checklist after every new hatch:

  1. Open Index.
  2. Claim the first-unlock reward.
  3. Note whether the pet is plain or mutated (Worlds and Mutations).
  4. Place the pet on farm grass so Cash starts, including offline.

Duplicates still help the farm economy, but the Index payout is first-unlock only. Skipping claims is free Cash left on the table.

Farm and offline Cash habits

Pets earn while you are away. That offline stream funds the next drill notifier and the next Speed restock. Keep the farm populated:

  • Prefer placed pets over inventory trophies.
  • After Rebirth, rebuild Power with auto-train while existing pets print Cash (training Power).
  • When Worlds open, mutated pets should get priority slots once hatched.
  • Join the Crazay Future group and like the experience when you can — the Roblox page notes an exclusive animal perk for group support (Players).

Session routine (Speed + Index)

  1. Stock Speed on green pads.
  2. Train Power or park in auto-train.
  3. Buy the drill notifier if it is lit (drills).
  4. Steal one egg you can finish; escape; place; hatch.
  5. Claim Index if the species is new.
  6. Only then push a harder zone or a Mutation hunt.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Where do I buy Speed in Drill for Eggs?

Use the green Speed buttons near your home base before you leave for a steal. Restock after failed chases and after Rebirth.

What does the Index give me?

A one-time reward the first time you unlock a pet species. Claim it from the Index UI when the notification appears.

Do pets earn Cash while I am offline?

Yes. Placed pets keep generating Cash between sessions, which funds drills and Speed for the next login.

Should I upgrade Speed or drills first?

If guardians catch you, buy Speed first. If digs feel slow but escapes succeed, take the next drill notifier instead.
